The N25 Waterford Bypass extends from west of Kilmeaden in Co. Waterford to east of Slieverue in Co. Kilkenny with links to the N9 Dublin Road, N24 Limerick Road and N29 Port Road. Links are also provided to the west and the north of the city. Tramore House Regional Design office are managing the scheme on behalf of the 3 Authorities. Mott MacDonald EPO are the Consulting Engineers for the scheme. An Bord Pleanala commenced an Oral hearing into the Compulsory Purchase Order and Environmental Impact Statement in August 2001. An Bord Pleanala requested additional information from Waterford City Council in relation to five items:
The oral hearing is reconvening on 22nd July 2002 to consider submissions to the City Council's response. An application has been made to the Department of the Marine for a Foreshore Licence for the works that affect foreshore areas and to the Department of the Environment for a Bridge Order in respect of the Suir Crossing. A Public Inquiry in respect of the Bridge Order took place on the 12th June and 23rd October, 2001. The NRA has published a draft Toll scheme. An Oral Hearing into the Toll Scheme was held in September, 2001. This was adjourned and reconvened on the 7th November, 2001. This hearing has concluded. The scheme has been designated as a pilot public private partnership scheme in the National Development Plan 2000-2006 and is being progressed on this basis. Pre-qualification of tenderers has taken place. The following consortia were invited to negotiate:
