The Contract for the scheme construction was advertised in July 2001. In all 23 companies requested documents. The closing date for receipt of completed tender documents was 4th September. Seventeen tenders were returned. A notice was published in the press listing the names of the tenders and separately listing the tender totals. The tenders documents were checked for compliance with CONDOC. All valid tenders were then checked for mathematical errors. An independent external checker, Bruce Shaw Partnership, was appointed by Wexford County Council to carry out mathematical checks on all of the valid tenders. THRDO also carried out a mathematical check on the Roadworks bill of quantities while Consultant Engineers T.J. OÕConnor & Associates undertook a similar exercise on the structures bills of quantities. All of the data from the various sources was compared and collated by THRDO and this produced the corrected Tender Totals. The award of the Contract has been postponed indefinitely pending the allocation of sufficient funding. Preliminary archaeological investigation has been completed. A total of 10 sites have been identified as warranting further investigation. However, this has been postponed pending the allocation of sufficient funding. |
